Introducing Lucille, Valerie and Gloria (continuing our Carneddau Mare, musical names)
We were contacted to say Gloria was poorly and on bringing her off the mountain, it was obvious her mum Valerie was underweight and needed support. One of the Carneddau volunteers had spotted Lucille down, unable to move. Gareth the Guardian was ready euthanise her, when she stood up. He decided if she could get off the mountain to his farm, she was worth a chance of help.
Gloria has locking patellas which would hinder her on the mountain, and Valerie we will run test, check teeth etc and feed her up.
Lucille is very poorly, she collapsed with exhaustion not long after arriving, so our vet Luke left her an hour to rest before taking bloods, giving her fluids to hydrate her and antibiotics. She is in one of our critical care stables and will have hourly checks day and night.
